Synchronous version crashes whereas asynchronous versions works fine

I am trying to write a toy community detection program by modifying the simple coloring program provided in the toolkit. I have attached the source code here. It works well with asynchronous engine, but crashes with synchronous engine. What am I doing wrong here?

Async commad: mpirun -n 16 -ppn 1 -hostfile hostfile.txt ./my_communitydetection --graph=amazon0312.txt --format=snap --saveprefix=output --engine=asynchronous

Sync command: mpirun -n 16 -ppn 1 -hostfile hostfile.txt ./my_communitydetection --graph=amazon0312.txt --format=snap --saveprefix=output --engine=synchronous

I have attached the outputs too.

Looks like you have a seg fault on one of the processes. The synchronous engine is simpler and generally has much fewer issues. Can you look around your code for potential memory violations? (Or try a memory checker like valgrind. Valgrind will hate the asynchronous engine, but the synchronous one is fine).

I checked for any memory violations in my code and found that there are none. Do you mean that there are violations in the synchronous engine?
