Emulating many machines by using mpiexec "-n" parameter

I need to check how many messages (bytes) will be sent by an algorithm as a function of the number of machines. Is it possible to do so by just setting, e.g., "mpiexec -n 100" to emulate network traffic in the 100 machines cluster?

Thanks a lot, Michael.

This is not recommended since running 100 MPI instances on a single machine will exhaust the system resources. (Note that each GraphLab MPI instance can support multiple cores).

Yes, I now that it is not efficient, but I just want to emulate many machines in terms of network communication between them. Will I see the same network traffic as in the case of 100 machines?
