Graphlab Create on EC2 for Coursera students

User 5184 | 5/10/2016, 6:05:51 PM

Hi,

I am using the Graphlab Create Amazon EC2 AMI for Coursera. When running "from matplotlib import pyplot as plt" this does not seem to be installed: ImportError: libSM.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

However terminal access is not provided to this instance (all via iPython). Any thoughts on how to make this happen?

Got it fixed by logging to terminal and run: sudo apt-get install libsm6 libxrender1 libfontconfig1

markboon how did you ssh into the coursera instance? I am trying to add a key pair to it so I can ssh in, but not having any luck.

@jessewright - It's a Ubuntu based machine. Direction to SSH to Ubuntu EC2 hosts can be found here: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/AccessingInstancesLinux.html

Basically you need to set your key pair before you launch your host. It the final step before launching. Then you should be able to SSH to it by the following command: ssh -i <path to key file> ubuntu@<public ip address>. You'll need to set the path to the key file and the public ip address.
